Memories

Can you add to the list in emails dated 6/25 and 7/2/07 from Theresa Bleaser Carufel:

Does anytone have an old St. Matt's uniform for guys and gals? I remember having to wear a beanie on my head.

What about music - do you remember the music they played each day when school was dismissed. It was some kind of a march. (John Susa - Stars and Strips Forever - GWSchmid)We could have that playing while we gathered at Joesph's. People might think it is strange, but oh well.

Some other memories: guys could play sports. but not the girls.
eating at our desks and not being able to talk.
nuns! == where are they today?

I was thinking how life was for us way back when and came up with this list. Interesting.

-Elvis was king
-Barbie dolls came out in '59 (we were too old)
-Captain Kangeroo
-Marilyn Monroe first appeared in Playboy in l953 (of course you wouldn;t know. ha ha)

or things at St. Matt's:
-Daily mass
-girls wearing beanies on their heads during church
-fasting after midnight until morning mass - couldn't even drink water
-no Sat. or evening masses
-raising you hand to go to the lavoratory (didn't say bathroom)
-confession monthly?
-if you needed to go to the bathroom before the assigned time, you needed to raise your hand and ask
for permission
-twice a day lining in a nice straight line to go to the bathroom
-being taught by nuns
-Ms. White is the only lay teacher I remember
-getting weighed by the nurse and her 'yelling' out loud your weight - and for some of us this was
embarrassing.
-Monsignor Shykowski???? had an electric cane to shock stray dogs
-never talked about sex and homosexuality
-bringing a bag lunch (no hot lunches) and having to sit at your desk eating quietly - couldn't talk
-no computer, ipods, cell phones
-police patrol
-the quarry across the street from the school
-the bowling alley

Just testing to figure out how one would post a blog.
